Tragedy in Washington: Cause of Death Revealed for Three Young Sisters

In a heartbreaking incident in Wenatchee, Washington, three young sisters,Paityn (9), Evelyn (8), and Olivia Decker (5),were found dead near a campground after a scheduled visit with their father, Travis Decker. Court documents indicate that the preliminary cause of death for all three girls is asphyxiation.

A Scheduled Visit Turns Tragic

On May 30, 2025, the Decker sisters were reported missing after their father failed to return them following a court-approved visitation. Their mother, Whitney Decker, who had sole custody, alerted authorities when she lost contact with Travis. The girls’ bodies were discovered near Rock Island Campground, close to their father’s abandoned white 2017 GMC Sierra truck.

Evidence and Ongoing Investigation

Investigators found disturbing evidence at the scene, including bloody handprints on Decker’s vehicle and signs of recent campsite use. Court documents also mention the discovery of zip ties and plastic bags scattered around the area, suggesting possible premeditation.

Suspect at Large

Travis Decker, a 32-year-old military veteran with a history of mental health issues, is the primary suspect in the case. He is currently wanted on three counts of first-degree murder and one count of kidnapping. Authorities have launched a multi-agency manhunt, urging the public not to approach him and to report any sightings immediately.

Community and Family Impact

The tragic loss of the Decker sisters has deeply affected the local community. Lincoln Elementary School, where all three girls were enrolled, is offering counseling services to students and staff. A GoFundMe page has been set up to support the grieving mother, with donations pouring in from across the country.

Questions Raised About Alert Systems

The case has sparked criticism over the decision not to issue an Amber Alert when the girls were first reported missing. Authorities opted for an endangered missing persons alert instead, citing a lack of immediate perceived danger. This decision has been met with public outcry, with many believing that an earlier alert could have made a difference.
