“Don’t Let Them Silence You” — Odumodublack Urges Christians to Speak Out!

Nigerian rapper Odumodublack  has recently taken to social media to encourage Christians to speak boldly about their faith, even when faced with criticism or societal pressure. In a tweet posted on Sunday, he emphasized the importance of confidence in expressing one’s beliefs:

“As a Christian you must be very confident when you are being vocal about the faith,” he wrote.

He acknowledged that critics might attempt to silence outspoken Christians by accusing them of hypocrisy, but urged believers to remain steadfast:

“They will try to silence you by saying na you holy pass, but you yourself know say you still dey ask God for mercy.”

Odumodublack also highlighted a cultural shift where speaking against God has become normalized, and called for resistance against such trends:

“They have made it a norm to preach against God so we must make it a norm to preach against the things God has said He is not for.”

He concluded by emphasizing the need for courage in the face of persecution, aligning with scriptural teachings.

This isn’t the first time Odumodublack  has spoken out on matters of faith. In February 2024, he defended Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), against online criticisms. Adeboye had stated that Nigeria’s problems are more spiritual than political, prompting backlash. Odumodublack  condemned the disrespect shown to the pastor, noting that such behavior is uncommon among Muslims towards their clerics.

His stance aligns with sentiments expressed by Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, who, in October 2024, urged church leaders to speak truth to power and not remain silent on national issues. Adeleke emphasized the church’s role in advocating for good governance and societal values.

What Do You Think?

  • Do you believe Christians should be more vocal about their faith in today’s society?
  • How can believers balance boldness with humility when expressing their beliefs?

What role should religious leaders and artists play in shaping public discourse on faith and morality?
