Thailand Unveils Bold Push for Muslim-Friendly Tourism at Arabian Travel Market 2025

Partnerships with GCC Airlines and Exclusive Travel Experiences Target Over 1 Million Visitors from the Middle East and Africa

Dubai, UAE – April 29, 2025 – Thailand is stepping into the spotlight at the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2025 with a powerful message: the Land of Smiles is ready to welcome Muslim travellers like never before.

Under the banner of the Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism and Sports Year 2025, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is showcasing a refreshed, inclusive vision of Thailand as a premier Muslim-friendly destination. From new travel offerings to strategic airline collaborations, the campaign is designed to captivate high-value travellers across the Middle East and Africa (MEA).

At the heart of the announcement are new partnerships with aviation giants Emirates and Etihad Airways, aimed at boosting direct connectivity and rolling out co-branded campaigns focused on luxury, wellness, and family-friendly travel. These initiatives are central to TAT’s ambitious goal of welcoming over 1 million MEA travellers in 2025.

“Thailand is evolving into a seamless and inclusive destination for Muslim travellers,” said TAT Governor Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool. “With Halal-certified dining, prayer facilities in airports and malls, and luxury accommodations designed with privacy and modesty in mind, we are proud to offer experiences that respect and reflect Islamic values.”

Thailand’s newly launched travel packages are tailored to meet the specific needs of Muslim tourists—ranging from honeymoon escapes to wellness retreats and culturally immersive family holidays. These offerings blend elegance, tradition, and convenience, meeting the growing demand for personalised and faith-conscious travel.

In 2024, Thailand saw a 25.6% increase in visitors from the MEA region, with over 956,000 arrivals. The destination continues to appeal to affluent Middle Eastern travellers who prioritise longer, more bespoke vacations with an emphasis on comfort, culture, and cuisine.

TAT’s ATM showcase is also spotlighting the nationwide Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism and Sports Year 2025 campaign—a celebration of everything Thailand does best. From vibrant festivals and global sporting events to elite travel perks and immersive adventures, the campaign highlights five tourism pillars: sports, wellness, culture, gastronomy, and luxury.

Also featured is the unique “5 Must-Do Experiences” campaign—Must Taste, Must Try, Must Buy, Must Seek, and Must See—inviting visitors to explore beyond Bangkok and Phuket, and into the soul of Thailand’s lesser-known towns and traditions.

“We’re introducing travellers to Hidden Gem Cities and Thai Craft Destinations,” Ms. Kiatphaibool added. “These locations are rich with local artistry, authentic cuisine, and community-led experiences that offer something truly different and unforgettable.”

Supporting this bold vision is Thailand’s sustainable tourism strategy, built on the Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) economic model. This framework encourages responsible tourism, cultural preservation, and low-impact travel—further positioning Thailand as a global leader in eco-conscious travel experiences.

To deepen connections and boost visibility in the GCC region, a Thai tourism delegation will continue its campaign after ATM with a roadshow across Riyadh, Dammam, and Doha (4–7 May), followed by business visits to Casablanca and Amman.

With its fresh outlook and strategic initiatives, Thailand is not just inviting visitors—it’s inspiring them to discover the kingdom in a new light.
