The Presidency has maintained that there is nothing new in the documents the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) have been ordered to release concerning President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
This statement comes in the wake of a recent ruling by a Washington DC judge, who directed both US agencies to make public all non-exempt files related to past investigations involving the Nigerian President.
In response to inquiries from journalists on Sunday, Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, addressed the issue via a post on social media.
“Journalists have sought the Presidency’s reaction to the ruling last Tuesday by a Washington DC judge ordering the US FBI and DEA to release reports connected with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Onanuga stated.
He further emphasized that the contents of the reports have long been public knowledge and contain no new revelations.
“Our response is as follows. There is nothing new to be revealed.
The report by Agent Moss of the FBI and the DEA report have been in the public space for more than 30 years.
The reports did not indict the Nigerian leader,” he added.
The Presidency’s position aims to downplay any fresh controversy or implications arising from the US court order, insisting that the decades-old documents have no bearing on President Tinubu’s credibility or integrity.
