Media personality and entrepreneur Toke Makinwa has raised concerns about the flood of unsolicited marriage proposals she’s been receiving—this time, through her work emails.
Taking to her Instagram Story, Toke shared screenshots of several messages from men proposing marriage following the release of her latest video. With humor, she pleaded for the proposals to stop, pointing out that her entire team has access to those emails.
“Pls tell your uncles to stop spamming my work emails. My entire team has access to it. Some Sunday humour.”
Why the Proposals?
The influx of proposals comes just hours after Toke revealed on her podcast that she’s open to settling down—even as a second, third, or fourth wife.
In a previous episode, Toke opened up about being single and childless at 40. She reflected on how much she has learned and how, if she had gone into a second marriage, she likely would have divorced again. Despite societal pressure, she chooses not to dwell in self-pity, but instead focuses on her personal growth, achievements, and the love she’s surrounded with.
Her First Marriage and Its Aftermath
Toke was once married to fitness expert Maje Ayinde, but their marriage ended in 2016 after just two years due to infidelity. Maje fathered a child with another woman during their union.
Opening up about the painful chapter, Toke said she was often blamed for the failure of the marriage, despite being the victim. She shared how the public ran with different narratives, which left her traumatized.
Clapping Back at Trolls
In June, the media personality responded to a troll who mocked her for being unmarried. The troll claimed she had moved from the “single era” to the “unmarried era.” In response, Toke confidently declared:
“God would do hers for her,” adding that the troll would live to congratulate her.
Setting the Record Straight
Toke has also addressed what she believes is a false narrative surrounding her views on men and marriage. Despite being divorced, she clarified that she loves marriage and strongly advocates for it.
“People think I hate men or that I’m a man basher. That’s wrong. I love marriage and being married. I greatly advocate marriage because 2 is better than 1.”
