DEPOWA’s Heartfelt Gesture: 10 Plots of Land and Support for Widows on Armed Forces Remembrance Day 2024

In a touching tribute to the fallen heroes of the nation, the Defence and Police Officers Wives’ Association (DEPOWA) marked the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day by presenting 10 widows with land documents and a financial contribution of N500,000 each to address their housing needs.

 A Generous Gift

The plots of land, situated in Abuja, were generously donated by Mr. Lawrence Oloche, the Chief Executive Officer of Promiseland Estate, while DEPOWA contributed N500,000 to each of the 10 widows. The event aimed to bring solace to the families of fallen heroes.

Commemorating Sacrifices

DEPOWA’s President, Mrs. Oghogho Musa, emphasized the significance of the event, providing an opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices made by the nation’s fallen heroes. The gesture aimed to bring smiles to the faces of the widows and their families, acknowledging the profound sacrifices they have endured.

Widows as Beneficiaries

Mrs. Musa expressed gratitude to Mr. Oloche, who had pledged on December 12, 2023, to donate 10 plots of land to widows through DEPOWA. The land documents will be in the names of the widows’ children, ensuring a lasting legacy.

Promiseland Estate’s Commitment

Promiseland Estate’s Head of Corporate Communication, Mr. Wilson Ndukwe, highlighted the spirit of compassion, gratitude, and commitment behind the gesture. He commended the servicemen and women who dedicated their lives to safeguarding Nigeria.

Mrs. Veronica Aluko, the National President of the Military Widows Association (MIWA), expressed heartfelt appreciation to Promiseland Estate for the generous gift of lands. She emphasized that these plots symbolize more than just real estate; they represent a lifeline for widows facing the harsh realities of loss and grief.

Beneficiaries Drawn from Various Associations

The 10 beneficiaries were drawn from different associations under DEPOWA, including the Nigerian Army Officers Wives’ Association (NAOWA), Navy Officers Wives’ Association (NOWA), Nigerian Air Force Officers Wives’ Association (NAFOWA), and Police Officers Wives’ Association (POWA).
