Business mogul Tunde Ayeni has taken legal action against Abuja socialite Adaobi Alagwu, issuing a court affidavit regarding a dispute over the use of his family name. The legal battle revolves around Alagwu’s daughter, Omarosa, who has been carrying Ayeni’s surname, a matter Ayeni has fiercely contested.
Request to Void Travel Documents
Tunde Ayeni, through his lawyer, Dele Adesina (SAN), recently petitioned the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) to void any international passport held by Alagwu’s daughter that bears his name. Ayeni argues that he has no familial relationship with the child, and therefore, the use of his surname on her travel documents is illegitimate. The legal notice titled “Withdrawal of Consent for Use of the Family Name ‘Ayeni’ With Respect to Your Daughter Omarosa” was also copied to the NIS.
DNA Test Dispute
The conflict stems from Alagwu’s use of Ayeni’s surname for her daughter despite a DNA test showing that Ayeni is not the biological father. Ayeni claims that Alagwu manipulated the situation, accusing her of tampering with the DNA process by allegedly hacking into his wife’s email address, which was used to receive the DNA results.
Affidavit Reaffirms No Relationship
In his sworn affidavit, Ayeni categorically denies any relationship with Alagwu and reiterates that he is married only to his wife, Abiola Ayeni. He stated that he was deceived into believing he was the father of Alagwu’s daughter, Omarosa, and has since withdrawn any consent for her to use his family name. The affidavit makes it clear that Ayeni has no legal or emotional obligation toward Alagwu or her daughter and has severed all ties with them.
Legal Battle Intensifies
The affidavit marks a significant development in a long-standing battle between Ayeni and Alagwu. Ayeni has repeatedly issued public statements denying paternity and now seeks to clear his name through legal means. He describes the relationship that was portrayed to the public as a fabrication, dismissing any claims of a union between himself and Alagwu.
Protecting His Family Legacy
Ayeni’s affidavit goes beyond personal vindication. It serves to protect the integrity of his family name, which he holds in high regard. He emphasizes that the allegations against him have not only caused personal distress but also threatened the reputation of his family, which is well-respected in business and legal circles.
Ayeni Obaniwa Family’s Denunciation
In a show of solidarity, the Ayeni Obaniwa family of Iyah-Gbede has publicly distanced itself from the claims made by Alagwu. The family leaders issued a statement confirming that they have no knowledge of any relationship between their son and Alagwu. They also firmly stated that Omarosa is not a member of the Ayeni family and that no child of Alagwu bears their name.
A Closing Chapter
With Ayeni’s affidavit, the family’s declaration, and the court proceedings, the saga appears to be reaching its conclusion. Ayeni’s legal actions have provided clarity, and his family remains steadfast in defending their name from what they view as a web of deceit spun by Alagwu.
Upholding Honor and Truth
Through his affidavit, Ayeni stands as a defender of his personal and family integrity, determined to dispel rumors and restore his reputation. He emphasizes that no falsehood can overshadow the truth, which he believes will ultimately prevail.
