In a cheerful display of festive spirit, President Bola Tinubu arrived in Lagos on Thursday evening, making a grand entrance ahead of the Christmas celebrations. The distinguished guest was received at the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, and an entourage of government officials.
The Nigeria Presidential Jet NAF 001, carrying President Tinubu from Abuja, touched down at 03:55 pm local time, marking the commencement of his visit. The Chief Press Secretary to Lagos State Governor, Gboyega Akosile, shared in a statement that a jubilant crowd of supporters eagerly welcomed the President at the airport.
Among the dignitaries present to receive President Tinubu were Governor Sanwo-Olu, Deputy Governor Hamzat, Secretary to the Lagos State Government, Mrs. Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin, Head of Service, Mr. Olabode Agoro, and Chief of Staff, Mr. Tayo Ayinde, alongside other key government officials.
The political landscape was also well represented, with Lagos State All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftains led by Chairman Cornelius Ojelabi, members of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), State Executive Council, and other prominent figures from the APC at the airport to extend a warm welcome to the President.
Accompanied by his Principal Private Secretary, Mr. Hakeem Muri-Okunola, and close aides, President Tinubu embraced the cultural richness of Lagos as he was greeted by the enchanting performances of the Lagos State Cultural Troupe, showcasing traditional music and dance.
In a lively interaction with the waiting crowd, President Tinubu moved around the airport, reciprocating the warm greetings and waving to well-wishers who had gathered to usher in the Christmas festivities with the esteemed leader.
Subsequently, the President boarded a helicopter from the airport to Dodan Barracks in Ikoyi, marking the next phase of his visit. From there, he is set to move to his private residence in Lagos, further emphasizing the significance of the visit during this joyous season.
