Delta State Governor’s Aide Criticizes Guest List at Pastor Jerry Eze’s Birthday Bash

Ossai Success Ovie, an aide to the Delta State governor, recently expressed his disapproval of the guest list at the 42nd birthday celebration of popular Abuja-based pastor, Jerry Eze, founder of Streams of Joy International. The celebration, which took place over the weekend, included prominent figures such as businessmen E-Money and Obi Cubana, drawing attention and sparking a debate.

Concerns Over the Guest List

In a Facebook post shared on October 7, Ossai voiced his disappointment, questioning the choice to invite wealthy socialites E-Money and Obi Cubana to the event. According to him, their inclusion in a Christian gathering raises concerns about their alignment with Christian values.

Ossai argued that these high-profile individuals are not “genuine Christians” based on their public lifestyles, and Pastor Jerry’s decision to invite them has cast doubt on the pastor’s faith. He emphasized that wealth and celebrity status should not determine who is welcomed into Christian circles, particularly at an event like this.

Biblical Reference and Moral Concerns

Ossai supported his stance by citing a Bible verse, 2 Corinthians 6:14, which urges Christians not to be “unequally yoked with unbelievers.” He questioned why Pastor Jerry Eze, who holds a respected position as a religious leader, would associate with individuals who do not live according to Christian principles.

He noted that other influential religious figures, such as Bishop David Oyedepo, did not invite such celebrities to their celebrations, implying that Jerry Eze should have followed a similar approach.

Missed Opportunity for Evangelism

The Delta State governor’s aide expressed disappointment that the event did not serve as an opportunity for evangelism. He believed that Pastor Jerry Eze could have used the occasion to lead E-Money and Obi Cubana toward a deeper commitment to Christianity. Ossai pointed out that after watching the birthday videos, he did not see any indication of spiritual change or commitment from the guests.

Public Reaction and Debate

Ossai’s comments have sparked a broader discussion on social media about the role of wealth and celebrity in religious circles. His criticism highlights the tension between maintaining Christian principles and engaging with prominent public figures who may not share the same values. Many have weighed in on whether it was appropriate for Pastor Jerry Eze to extend invitations to wealthy individuals, regardless of their faith.
