Katsina Police Arrest Ward Head Suspected of Being Bandits’ Informant

The Katsina State Police Command has apprehended Usamatu Adamu, a 45-year-old ward head from Runka village in the Safana Local Government Area, for allegedly providing information to bandits. The arrest was made on October 3, 2024, following a thorough investigation and credible intelligence.

Abubakar Sadiq, the spokesperson for the Katsina State Police, reported that Usamatu Adamu was paraded alongside two accomplices: Rabe Sada, alias BBC, aged 62, and Nasiru Sha’aibu, aged 48, both also from Runka village. Preliminary investigations have indicated their involvement in a conspiracy related to the kidnapping of four individuals from the village, identified as Abdulkarim, Malam Sakoa, Malam Sirajo, and Ali.

The ward head, now residing in Sabon Gida village within the Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, was tracked down based on intelligence linking him to multiple kidnapping incidents in his home village. During interrogation, Adamu reportedly confessed to his involvement in the crimes and revealed the identities of his accomplices. He also mentioned a notorious armed bandit kingpin named Umar, who is believed to be operating in the Runka forest area of Safana LGA.
